MASERU - Alliance Francaise, in partnership with the National University of Lesotho (NUL), hosts the "I See You With My Heart" exhibition by Madagascan photographer Miora Majaonary.
The exhibition revolves around the lives of eight mixed couples and the stories of how being in an interracial relationship has brought a number of challenges that were a test for their love. The couples share their experiences through photography and audio recordings.
Some say having a partner from a different racial group came as a shocking disappointment to their families and friends, which then brought judgement as well as rejection because it was viewed as taboo in their culture.
Last week the students at NUL got the opportunity to observe and listen to the insightful stories. This week Alliance Francaise de Maseru started showcasing it on Monday and will end later today.
The multimedia project focuses on couples based in South Africa and, through their experiences, untold stories expose new dynamics of how culture and race still confine people to a set of norms which restrict freedom of expression.
