Maseru –The brother to slain army chief Professor Nqosa Mahao, has denied allegations that he was leading an alleged All Basotho Convention (ABC) faction with the intention of toppling the party leader, Dr Thomas Thabane.

Mahao is the National University of Lesotho (NUL) Vice-Chancellor.

In refuting the claims he said he does not have any intentions of leading the ABC.

Mahao said he had however heard that a member of Lesotho People's Congress (LPC) had made the said allegation on radio.

He said he is aware that this man is pushing the agenda and strategy of some members of the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) to tarnish the University's image through a propaganda and inciting trouble among students to make them lose control.

Tefo Mapesela, the ABC Spokesperson said there were no factions in the ABC. Mapesela quashed as baseless rumours that some members want the current leader out.
