MASERU – A councillor was fatally stabbed on October 9 after unknown intruders comprising a woman and three men entered his house at 7 pm.

According to Police Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli, a 55-year-old woman from Qalakheng 2 knocked at the counsellor’s house and his wife suggested they allow her into the house.

On entering the house, the family realised the woman was with three men. Sensing danger the wife suggested that they offer the intruders some money to leave them unharmed. The councillor handed an undisclosed sum of money.

The intruders tied-up the councillor’s wife, together with her 14-year-old granddaughter and grandson aged 12 before severally stabbing the victim with a knife.

The unidentified gang then fled the scene in a white van before the children cried to alert neighbours to come to their rescue.

Police said of late women are being used in criminal activities as most people assume women cannot harm anyone.

Mopeli said police are still looking for the assailants and asked anyone with information that could help investigations to report to the nearest police station.
