MASERU – A Berea man who allegedly killed a fellow villager and buried his body in shallow grave, accusing him of having an affair with his wife is believed to have cut off the dead man’s ears.
Cheke Motseke who appeared before the Berea Magistrate’s Court on February 28 allegedly mutilated the deceased’s body to protect himself from witchcraft attacks from the man’s family.
Motsepe, 28, of Ha Motete is alleged to have sometime in February confronted his wife about the suspected affair and the couple had a heated argument.
The wife allegedly fled and sought refuge at her own parents’ home.
In her absence, Motseke is alleged to have taken his wife’s cellphone and sent the deceased man a text message, pretending to be his wife.
The two agreed to meet on a particular day and place and when the deceased went to meet the woman, he was confronted by the woman’s husband who was with his two friends.
