MASERU - Former director of SA National Public Prosecution (NPA) Senior Counsel Shaun Abrahams spearheads the Crown team that is prosecuting the murder case of former Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) Commander, the late Lt Gen Maaparankoe Mahao. SC Abraham yesterday made his debut appearance in the High Court where requested the court to stick to dates already set for trial after the defense team announced that one of the accused is expected to appear before the Court Martial scheduled for the same dates.
The murder case which continues before Acting Chief Justice ’Maseforo Mahase will resume from January 15 - 25 and April 1 – 5 next year. Captain Litekanyo Nyakane, Capt Haleo Makara, Sergeant Motsamai Fako, Sgt Lekhooa Moepi, Corporal Marasi 'Moleli, Cpl Motšoane Machai, Cpl Mohlalefi Seitlheko and Cpl Tšitso Ramoholi are charged for Mahao’s murder.
Mahao was gunned down on the way from his home in Mokema, Maseru on June 25, 2015. The army, which has since claimed responsibility, said he was shot resisting arrest.
