Maseru -A Mafeteng bully who in his father’s absence terrorised his step-mother and bashed her up met his match yesterday when landed behind bars where he will remain for the next six years. The 26-year-old convicted felon stabbed the woman with a knife on the arm and repeatedly hit her with a stick on the head.
Thabo Rakhapu of Ha Lekhari was mad at his step-mother because she refused to give him some spending money on November 11. The woman suffered grave injuries on the arm and is nursing multiple head wounds. The Mafeteng Magistrate’s Court yesterday, however, gave Rakhapu an option to pay a M10 000 fine, which he failed to raise before he was sent to prison.
Rakhapu in mitigation begged the court for clemency, saying he lost his head and had no idea what drove him to behave the way he did. Handing down judgment, Magistrate Nkuebe Ramabele told Rakhapu that his behavior was totally unacceptable and had to be sorted out. Michael Senatla prosecuted.
