A concert beyond just music

MASERU - Former South African TV personality Nonhle Thema is expected to be part of the Music and Light show scheduled for October 26 at Kingdom Lounge, Maseru Mall. The Music and Light show concert, which focuses on the business side of the showbiz hosted by Empire Events in collaboration with Solo Promotions, is the first of its kind in Lesotho.

Its uniqueness lies in the fact that the show uses music as a tool to bring local and international artistes to network and break the prejudice that international acts are more important than locals. The show is also expected to focus on women empowerment, talent search and tourism through the help of prominent SA personalities who made their mark in the entertainment industry such as Emtee from African Trap Movement and Thema, who are expected to form part of this prodigious project.

Thema, who just opened her own Talent Coaching Academy, is expected to share her skills and journey in showbiz. Having tasted both the good and the bad side, she is also expected to motivate and empower women who are often victims of abuse, discrimination and help them recognise their abilities.

Thema’s academy focuses mostly on public speaking, personal branding, social media coaching, acting classes, to mention few which are expected to be addressed as the networking and building of entertainment business continues after the concert. Locally, the concert will feature the likes of Ltore, Juvy, Pablo DJ, Gama, Afro DJ, Kaytee Fresh and MegaHertz, among the many others.

Addressing the press last week Chief Executive Officer at Empire Events, Rubina Issacs, said to achieve their plans they are working hand in glove with various establishments such as Mpilo Boutique and BraykThru Media. Issacs explained music and light as more than just a music concert but a networking platform for artistes. “We approached renowned personalities such as Emtee and Nonhle Thema whom we expect would influence change in the local entertainment industry,” she said explaining that the duo is expected to help local acts reach higher levels in showbiz.

On the other hand, sales and marketing executive at Mpilo Boutique Mosebetsi Matšela indicated that the hotel contributes to tourism and hospitality adding that events such as Music and Light promote local tourism. “This is more than just a concert but it is promotion of tourism, networking and a great time for interaction with locals. Involving Mpilo Boutique in this event is meant to give local people a chance to understand the nature of the business we are offering,” he said adding that Mpilo Boutique seeks to support local talent.

According to BraykThru Media Chief Operations Officer, Lebohang Mohapi, the door is still open for people or businesses willing to be part of the initiative, especially local clothing brands.
