Chinese man fatally shoots minor
MASERU – A Chinese national Xianping Chan who operates a business around Lithabaneng in Berea appeared before the Berea Magistrate’s Court for the murder of a 16-year-old girl.
It is alleged that on July 17 at about 3pm the deceased with her friends went to Chan’s potato field to allegedly steal the crops.
The Chinese farmer saw them and chased them with a gun fatally shooting the 16-year old from Ha Lephoi, Berea evidence shows.
Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli said the accused is awaiting trial on police custody.
The trial is scheduled for August 1, 2019.
