๐— ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜‚ – #Bachashutdown president, Tumelo Moteuli, said yesterday as the year begins they want to show the government that they are serious about their desire to see an end to the high unemployment rate.
He was speaking along Kingsway yesterday where dozens of youth clad in their graduation gowns and caps of knowledge were demonstrating their unemployed status by vending different items along the busy road.
He vowed they will go all out to show the government of Lesotho that they really meant business when they said they want to see Lesotho as a better country by eradicating the high unemployment rate in the country, especially among the youth.
The movement chose three days from January 3 to 5, 2022 as the โ€œUnemployed Graduates Youth Weekโ€.
โ€œWe as the members of the #Bachashutdown took a very huge step and invited all the youth graduates to come together and sell any product we have to improve this countryโ€™s economy as well our lives since we have had several meetings with the government who seemed to understand our issues but we donโ€™t know where the problem is in turning our concerns into reality,โ€ Moteuli said.
Moteuli further stated that their greatest plea is for the government to declare youth unemployment as a pandemic so it can be given special attention and be accorded more resources to ensure unemployment is eliminated completely.
The Unemployment youth graduates weekโ€™s motto is โ€œWe are not lazy. We are unemployed.โ€
