Maseru – The Directorate of Crime and Economic offences (DCEO), the Lesotho Revenue Authority (LRA) and the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) held a press conference today at the DCEO boardroom to officially launch the Anti-Corruption Day Campaign.
Addressing the gathering the DCEO Director General, Advocate Mahlomola Moses Manyokole said the International Anti-Corruption Day was designated by the United Nations General Assembly following the adoption of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) in 2003 to be commemorated globally, every year by all state parties to the convention.
Manyokole said since he is still new in the office he is therefore learning a lot from both his colleagues within the directorate and key partners including, in particular, the Commissioner of Police and the Commissioner General of LRA with whom he is partnering in spearheading the national effort in commemorating Anti-Corruption Day.
He expressed gratitude for the support he is receiving and assured everybody that he is going to hit the ground running because he is aware Basotho are yearning for a serious turn-around in fighting corruption.
