As South African Wits FC secure two big signings
MASERU – South African Wits FC have made their first two big signings after bringing in former Kaizer Chiefs striker Nicholas Mynhardt and Lesotho international Luciano Matsoso. Wits are back in the football limelight after buying the status of ABC Motsepe League side Baberwa FC.
The students were dead and buried on the big local football stage after their PSL status was sold to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila. However, the Wits University-owned team is making strides to return to top-flight football sooner than expected.
KickOff.com can now reveal that Wits have concluded the signing of Lesotho international midfielder Luciano Matsoso until the end of the season. Matsoso had a spell in Europe after playing for MKS Oskar Preyzuch in Poland.
“Matsoso is a highly rated player in Lesotho. He is part of the team to play in the AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Nigeria next month,” revealed a source at Wits. “The club has also signed Nicholas Mynhardt, formerly with Kaizer Chiefs. He is a top player and it’s surprising why he is not playing in the PSL.”
Meanwhile, media reports in Maseru indicate that Lioli FC has commended Matsoso, its former left winger, in his new assignment at Wits. Lioli FC President, Lebohang Thotanyana, told the local media this move was a notable achievement. He showed that Matsoso was a free agent following the end of his contract with Lioli FC last season.
“It has been some time now since Matsoso parted ways with the team, however Lioli FC is proud and delighted that he attained his goals and it wishes him success in the new team. I was not part of the team when he was playing for Lioli FC but as a true fan of ‘Tse Nala’, I observed him as a great and energetic professional player who usually performed his work perfectly within the club even in the Lesotho senior men’s national team “Likuena”.
This is all I know of him,” Lioli FC President stated. KickOff.com
