MASERU – Matlama FC have expressed dissatisfaction with the decision of the Appeals Board in their appeal against the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) decision to award the 2019/2020 football league title to rivals Bantu – they seek arbitration in the matter.
Maseru’s ‘Mighty Blues’ oppose the local football governing body’s mother-body cancellation of the suspended league and award of the title to log-leaders, Bantu, while at the same time deciding to relegate any team from the elite league as required by law at the end of a season.
In a letter addressed to the football governing body on August 26, Matlama says the Board erred and misdirected itself in finding that the impugned decision is consistent with LeFA statutes, particularly Article 50.
“The Board erred and misdirected itself in finding that the impugned decision to be fair only on the basis that prior consultations were held with all relevant stakeholders and Matlama FC took part in such consultations,” team General Manager Lebenya Makakole said in the letter. They have requested for their plea to be taken to the Arbitration Tribunal.
