Maseru- Lesotho’s Operation Restore Hope campaign continues to alleviate mounting rates of crime around Lesotho. The campaign was launched in October 2020 and it’s task force comprises members of the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF), the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) and the National Security Service (NSS).
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Moqhibi Likhama said today that the campaign has been successful in ensuring that criminals are arrested and tried, while stolen livestock and cars are recovered. The operation has also seen the seizure of weapons such as illegal guns, knives and other weapons.
DCP Likhama indicated that the success of this campaign is also through the help of the public who provide reports and tip offs of illegal events that take place in their communities.
He also pleaded with all Basotho to strongly stand and take responsibility against gender based violence. “It is our duty, all of us, to get involved in policing our communities, for safety and peace,” he said.
