MASERU – ’Makabelo Mojela aged 32 of Pitseng, Lumelang in the district of Leribe paid M500 bail to avert six months’ imprisonment. According to Sub-Inspector ’Mareabetsoe Mofoka, this was after she was found guilty of concealing a birth by the Leribe magistrate’s court.
Mofoka said villagers who had seen the woman carrying a pregnancy notified the chief when it was no longer visible. The chief alerted the police who upon thorough investigation found out that ’Makabelo had bought abortion pills which induced the birth of her baby who she buried soon after birth.
Police ordered ’Makabelo to dig up the body and bury it at the graveyard.
