Leribe- World Vision Lesotho held a child-led activities event at Leribe, Koeneng and Mokotjomela last Friday to commemorate International Children’s Day.
Moabert Ramotso told Public Eye that the event was a platform created for children to urge the government and other stakeholders to provide child friendly services to meet their various childhood needs.
“The children voiced their views and concerns through a presentation on their rights and responsibilities and through songs, poems and role plays. It was a beautiful sight to watch them express and stand up for themselves the way they did. We are building strong men and women of tomorrow,” she said.
Present at the event were representatives from the Lesotho Mounted Police Services (LMPS), the Ministry of Social Development and the District Child Protection Team (DCPT) of Leribe.
“I understand why it is important to celebrate this day and I am happy to be here learning more about our rights as children and the importance of education,” said one the children stressing her excitement on being chosen to take part in the event.
