Maseru – Prime Minister Thomas Thabane did not attend the recent African Union summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia because of pressing issues he had to attend to at home, the Minister of Communication, Science and Technology Honourable Thesele ‘Maseribane said this week.

Thabane decided at the last minute not to travel hence the government’s failure to send Deputy Prime Minister Monyane Moleleke to the summit on his behalf.

Foreign minister Lesego Makhothi represented Lesotho at the 33rd Summit.

“…this is not the first time that the Prime Minister is unable to attend the summit of the African Union or United Nations, but still he was represented by the Foreign Affairs Minister on the very same 4×4 government, so let us not exploit our country’s image by posting misleading information that some of the African Union members deprived the Prime Minister of his presence at the summit,” said ‘Maseribane.

He further urged Basotho to use social media platforms “beneficially” and not to mislead the nation.

”Let us use the social media to improve the economy of the country, improve tourist attractions and advertise our products on social media.”
