2 men arrested with counterfeit money

MASERU – The Quthing Magistrate Court on February 19 found guilty and slapped with a two-year sentence two men from Qalakheng, Mohale’s hoek. The duo, Mokete Pitso (20) and Retšelisitsoe Lempe (23), was found in possession of fake money worth R6 000, according to police spokesperson Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli.

Briefing the media on the weekly police crime reports Mopeli further revealed that a 47-year-old man from Botha-Bothe appeared before the district’s magistrate on February 18 charged with the rape of a 12-years-old girl.

Tšeliso Mokipi was found guilty as charged and sentenced to 18 years without an option of fine. Police reports indicated that in March last year the accused raped the victim repeatedly, he used to coerce the victim to sniff glue as a way to drug her and each time he was done he would give her M10. The victim resides with her grandfather, with her mother and grandmother both deceased; the grandfather was alerted to the abuse a concerned concerned neighbour.
