Maseru – The Catholic Church will today hold a memorial service for the late Archbishop Emeritus for Maseru Archdiocese Bernard Mosiuoa Mohlalisi OMI. The memorial service will be aired on the Catholic Church radio “Radio Maria” between 19:30 pm and 21:30 pm.
On behalf of the Maseru Diocese Priests, Reverend Father Sylvester Thabelang Mothabeng, said Mohlalisi will be laid to rest on Sunday at Mofumahali-Oa-Tlholo. “We are already digging his grave in church and he will be buried on Sunday. The remains will be collected at the morgue at 07:30am and the program will finish at 09:30am.”
Mothabeng said the programme is in accordance with the church’s tradition where a Bishop is to be buried in his diocese at the church “Cathedral”. “There is a chair in Cathedral which represents the Bishop. That chair is a sign that that Bishop is part of the church and is bound to be buried in his church,” Mothabeng said.
The burial will adhere to the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the government’s regulations hence there will only be 15 people at the funeral. The funeral will be aired at Radio Maria, Radio Lesotho and Lesotho Television.
According to the Provincial Superior of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, Father Mothusi Boatile OMI, the 87-year-old cleric died on Friday morning after battling an undisclosed illness for more than five years.
He was born on 16 March 1933 and was ordained into priesthood in 1963.
