Lesotho braces for extremely cold conditions

MASERU – The Lesotho Meteorological Services (LMS) has warned the nation to brace for extremely cold conditions countrywide and snowfall at some places from Monday night and to Wednesday this week. “A cold front is anticipated to pass over the country on Monday, August 17, at night into Tuesday, August 18, bringing very cold weather conditions across the country and snowfall at some places,” LMS said in a statement on Monday.
The statement added that: “Light to moderate snowfall is expected over most high-lying areas with light rain elsewhere. It will be very cold on Tuesday and Wednesday where daytime temperatures are expected to be below to 10°C (Degrees Celsius) and less than 5 °C in the highlands.”
LMS said temperatures were expected to gradually improve from Thursday. “The nation is there encouraged to take necessary precautions during this period and stay tuned to local media for frequent updates from Lesotho Meteorological Services,” said ‘Mathabo Mahahabisa, director of LMS.
