Criminals con US embassy events’ attendees

Maseru – The United States Embassy in Maseru has today warned the public about fraudulent activities involving the Embassy.

This follows a spate of falsified requests of payments from people attending official events hosted by either the Ambassador or senior officials at the Embassy which the US Embassy said are free and only require official invitation.

“If the event is open to the public, it will be advertised via official Embassy channels, including our website and social media pages,” said the Embassy, adding that the public should not make any payments to anyone who claims this is required for one to visit or attend an event at the US Embassy.

The Embassy urged victims of such fraudulent payments to contact them.
