Maseru – A well-known businessman Moeketsi Tsatsanyane today held a press conference where he had invited heads of various organisations, community leaders and chiefs to discuss what he called the country’s stagnation.
Tsatsanyane said he decided to call a meeting of that nature after a deeply thinking about the progress of the nation because of leaders who seem not to have the country’s interests at heart.
It is time that Basotho are led by real community leaders who can effect visible change and quit following self proclaimed leaders who have not done anything for communities, he said.
“I am deeply concerned about Lesotho and the endless misery she is drowning in. We have been independent for decades now but this country is still stagnant. I called different leaders today so that we can discuss the way forward because we have been fooled by politicians for a long time; it is high time genuine leaders meet and discuss the future of this country,” he said.
Speaking at the event, Lesotho Council of Churches chairperson, Rev. Tebatso Molapo explained that as the church, they are worried about the future of Lesotho and no one is saying a thing.
He thanked Tsatsanyane for such a vision of bringing different leaders to talk about the future of Lesotho.
“I believe this meeting is God ordained and it is going to make an impact in the country. It is high time we go back to God for guidance or else Lesotho will continue to swim in endless miseries,” he said.
He added he is concerned about the country’s financial state as the economy is in the hands of foreigners whose only intention is to milk Lesotho.
“If we continue to allow them, they are going to colonise us for good and we will become their servants forever. Let us wake up and smell the coffee, we are being fooled and our country is being taken away before our very eyes,” he said.
The meeting was held today at Transformation Resource Centre premises.
