Maseru – The Ministry of Development Planning today announced it will suspend the policy which requires students to first repay 50% of the educational loan from the National Manpower Development Secretariat (NMDS) before they can be awarded another bursary for further studies.
However, there are certain terms and conditions to be taken note of.
“It has to be clear that only Basotho students in financial need will be awarded another scholarship while employed Basotho students will first have to repay 65% of their loan first in order to be awarded the scholarship to further their studies,” Selibe Mochoboroane, planning minister, said.
He was addressing a press conference today.
Mochoboroane added the government believes this will enable Basotho students in financial need to undertake postgraduate studies in priority skills determined by the Loan Bursary Fund in line with the National Strategic Plan (NSDP) II priorities, which will be determined by academic merit.
