Tampane launches AUSC Games car branding

MASERU – The Minister of Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation, Likeleli Tampane, officially launched the car branding of the Maseru 2020 Region 5 Games in Maseru on Wednesday.
Speaking at the launch, Tampane highlighted that the day marks the progress in the hosting of the games.
“It is a big day in Region 5 and added to that after a long time Lesotho is progressing in terms of hosting the games. I thank all LOC staff, the ministry, LSRC and LNOC for working tirelessly in preparing for the games.
“These games are going to contribute immensely to the economic development of Lesotho. All services will be given to Basotho. We sourced experts from the Lesotho Defence Force to push some of the work in preparing for the games,” she said.
She further thanked the Region 5 Council of Ministers that she works with and said they have been supportive throughout. Tampane also urged Basotho to unite and cheer Team Lesotho as the local participating athletes should be united and raise the country’s flag high. She also urged the media to support since it is through media that the games will successful.
“Through working with media, we will successfully host the games. “The construction of selected grounds to be renovated has begun with the Setsoto stadium currently under construction,” she noted.
Maseru 2020 AUSC Region 5 Games LOC Chief Executive Officer, Morake Raleaka, said the games are likely to be held behind closed doors and added that even though the games officially commence of December 3, football will resume some time before that date although the official opening ceremony will be held on December 3.
These games, which will be held in Maseru until December 12, were initially scheduled for December 2020 but faced postponement due to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic which hit the African continent. Lesotho will host this regional youth competition for the first time in history.
