MASERU – The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) on Wednesday received t-shirts and sweaters from the TJ Nthane Foundation.

Teboho Shelile, the Chairperson of the TJ Nthane Foundation, stated that LeFA had requested support for the national team, and the foundation promptly responded.

The foundation sponsored 160 t-shirts and 40 sweaters for Likuena, commemorating 200 years of the founding of the Basotho nation.

“The apparel is of high quality, hence, we spent a lot of money,” said Shelile, adding that the outfit reflects Lesotho as a bright and friendly nation that is resilient.

He urged the team to strive for good results, recalling the pride they brought last year despite not winning.

He reiterated the foundation’s theme, “strong families build strong nations,” and expressed the belief that if Likuena are strong and tough, their results will improve.

Shelile confirmed that the foundation will continue to sponsor sports if they align with their objectives. He then handed over the t-shirts and sweaters to the LeFA president, King’s Counsel (KC) Salemane Phafane.

For his part, the Secretary General of LeFA, Mokhosi Mohapi, said this marks the second round of support received for Likuena. He thanked all sponsors for their contributions and encouraged other companies and Basotho to follow the TJ Nthane Foundation’s example.

KC Phafane also expressed gratitude to the foundation.

He highlighted the growing relationship between LeFA and the foundation, noting that this is not the first instance of their support.

Phafane recalled past sponsorships, including a car donation and covering all expenses for the national team during the 2012/13 COSAFA games in Zambia, including player allowances.

He emphasised the foundation’s consistent support and expressed hope that other companies would be motivated to support LeFA.

He noted the swift response to their request within three days and felt honoured by the foundation’s unwavering support and love for the national team.

He mentioned the dedication of the foundation’s owner, Tšeliso Nthane who was present in Durban, Kwazulu-Natal, when Likuena were playing, as a testament to their commitment.

“I encourage all companies to support sports, not only for the national team but sports in general in the country,” said Phafane.
