MASERU – The Public Officers’ Defined Contribution Pension Fund (PODCPF) is set to host its highly anticipated second annual member engagement forum on November 8,an event designed to foster deeper connections between the pension fund and its members. This year’s forum holds particular significance, coinciding with the bicentennial celebration of the Basotho Nation — a momentous occasion that symbolises resilience, unity, and collective strength.

The Principal Officer of PODCPF, M. Mochebelele, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the members for their continued trust and patience. “This year is especially significant, as we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the formation of the Basotho Nation, a proud reflection of our collective resilience, strength, and unity,” she said, underscoring the historical context that shapes this year’s forum.

Mochebelele emphasised the forum’s purpose as a platform for open dialogue, reinforcing the importance of members’ participation. “In the spirit of the bicentennial celebration and building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, I am pleased to announce that the PODCPF will be hosting its second annual member engagement forum. This is a platform designed to foster open dialogue and strengthen our relationship with you,” she stated.

This year’s theme, “Lentsoe La Hao Le Bohlokoa,” translates to “Your Voice Matters,” serving as a powerful reminder of each member’s vital role in administering their pension benefits.

“Just as our forebears built the foundations of our nation through collaboration and shared purpose, we are committed to building and strengthening the structure of this fund with you, our valued members,” Mochebelele added, highlighting the collective journey toward securing a sustainable future.

The Principal Officer stressed the importance of member engagement in understanding the fund’s operations. “Member participation in the forum is crucial as we discuss the fund’s performance, strategic initiatives, and operational endeavours, as well as how we can continue to improve service delivery for all members,” she explained.

Matshona Libalele Mlungwana, the communication officer for PODCPF, echoed Mochebelele’s sentiments, elaborating on the fund’s strategic direction for the years 2022 to 2026. “Engagement is one of our priorities. We aim to ensure that our members fully understand our operations. The forum provides a unique opportunity for us to gather in one space, where we can present our reports on fund performance and discuss various administrative issues,” Mlungwana noted.

“This interaction allows us to receive immediate feedback from our members, enhancing our communication and service.” Looking ahead, Mlungwana expressed optimism about increasing attendance at this year’s forum. “Last year, we had approximately 120-130 attendees physically and over 80 participating virtually. As we approach our second member engagement forum, we are excited to have invited 250people for the in-person event, and we hope to expand our virtual platform as well,” he shared.

The forum will not only allow members to learn about the fund’s achievements and challenges but will also serve as a space for them to voice their concerns and suggestions.  Mlungwana said all members will be represented, stating, “The invited participants include representatives from various workers’ associations, as well as specific officers standing for individuals who are not part of those associations. This inclusivity ensures that every voice is heard.”

As Lesotho marks a monumental 200 years since the formation of its nation, the PODCPF forum promises to be more than just a discussion—it is a celebration of resilience and unity.

Mochebelele and her team are committed to ensuring that members feel valued and informed, paving the way for a collaborative future.
