Big wins at RSL Appreciation Awards

MASERU – Revenue Services Lesotho (RSL) held a Taxpayer Appreciation Awards, in Maseru on Friday where the finance minister graced the event on November 8.

Speaking to those present RSL Commissioner General ‘Mathabo Mokoko after welcome remarks said the event was meant to acknowledge the taxpayers’ contribution and express RSL’s heart felt gratitude for the unwavering commitment of taxpayers to fulfilling their tax obligations, ensuring the economy and economic dreams are made possible.

“Your taxes are the backbone and the main driver of our economy, enabling the government of Lesotho to fund essential services, infrastructure projects and social programmes that benefit our beloved nation,” Mokoko said.

Mokoko further said she has witnessed firsthand the challenges and sacrifices the taxpayers make to ensure that they meet their tax obligations and responsibilities.This she said makes them deserve recognition and appreciation.

She said the event is not only a celebration with an opportunity to engage with taxpayers in a meaningful way.

“We want to hear your thoughts, your concerns, and your suggestions on how we can improve our services and make the tax process more efficient,” she further explained.

Finance Minister Dr Rets’elisitsoe Matlanyane joined by Tourism minister Lejone Mpotjoane extended their deepest gratitude to RSL and taxpayers for their hard work, dedication, and their belief in the importance of contributing to the society, and urged them contribute to work together in the spirit of partnership and collaboration.

The first phase of the awards was handed to the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offenses – DCEO, for total commitment in fighting corruption, exchanging information and services.

The second award was given to Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS), for investigating tax crimes, order security, assisted in revenue laws. The third and fourth awards were given to the Land Administration Office, and Revenue Services Lesotho for outstanding partner and willingness to share support, exchange of information and practices in RSL.

The fifth award was taken by the Lesotho Highlands Water Authority.

Phase two of the awards saw winners as follow: Kaiser Emere coming first followed by Minopex Pty Ltd, and Polihali Joint Venture. The next in line for winners in the third category – Maluti Mountain Brewery, Main North 1 Pty Ltd, Founder Construction Pty Ltd, and Sasai Econet Services for contributing a whopping 66 percent from year 2022. The last winner was Standard Lesotho Bank.
