RSL hands over sports facility to the military

SEBONGILE MATHE
MASERU – As part of their corporate social responsibility effort, the Revenue Services Lesotho (RSL) this week continued to buttress their existing partnership with the national army – handing over a sports ablution facility at its Mejametalana Airwing. The facility comprises two dressing rooms with lockers and benches, 12 shower rooms and eight toilets.
Officiating at the handover, the revenue collection authority’s Commissioner General, ‘Mathabo Mokoko, stated that the project forms of their collaboration with the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF), which contributed skilled labour for construction while the RSL provided the necessary building material.
Mokoko noted that this joint effort does not only strengthen institutional cooperation but also reinforces the two institutions’ shared commitment to improving facilities that enhance the well-being of both the LDF personnel and the wider community stakeholders who access LDF sports grounds.
The Commissioner General said this project underscores the principle that when national institutions work together, the entire nation benefits. She added that whether in tax administration, environmental conservation or infrastructure development, the power of partnerships cannot be overstated.
The RSL’s collaboration with the LDF is not new, she said. The two organisations have been working together on multiple initiatives, and this handover is another reflection of their shared dedication to the development of the country’s institutions and the people they serve.
She further mentioned that the partnership agreement they have with the LDF covers several areas of cooperation, including Corporate Social Investment, access to health facilities and the Cadet Programme.
“We are keen to explore more opportunities for collaboration that will contribute to national security, institutional efficiency, and the well-being of our communities,” said Mokoko.
Mokoko believes this is the beginning of many impactful initiatives that will further strengthen the relationship between the RSL and the LDF. The RSL remains committed to working together in areas of mutual interest for the benefit of the nation.
Speaking on behalf of the army, the Commander LDF, Lieutenant General Mojalefa Letsoela, welcomed the construction of the ablution facility with gratitude to the RSL.
He assured the authority, as the head of the army, that the LDF remains committed to ensuring the proper management and long-term sustainability of the facility.
The Commander emphasized the facility’s importance as a fixed asset, highlighting its vital role in addressing the basic needs to personnel, maintaining hygiene, and providing essential sanitation services.
He described the facility as a significant and valuable gift to the LDF.
