In jubilatory mood, CAS unveils new programme

MASERU – Centre of Accounting Studies (CAS) celebrated a significant milestone with the launch of its new Bachelor of Arts in Financial Services (BAFS) programme at an event that also saw them unveil CAS Strategic Plan 2025-2030 on July 25. The event marked a major step forward in CAS’s commitment to academic excellence and its contribution to Lesotho’s economic development.
38 students make up the inaugural BAFS cohort, embarking on a programme designed to equip them with the essential skills and knowledge required for success in the dynamic financial services industry.
The curriculum will cover key areas such as financial management, banking, and investment, fostering professionalism and ethical practices.
The launch coincided with the unveiling of CAS’s Strategic Plan 2025-2030, a comprehensive roadmap guiding the institution’s future growth and development.
The plan outlines six key priority areas: Business Operations and Services Offerings, Physical and Digital Infrastructure, Ethical Leadership, Governance, and Culture, Effective Collaboration and Partnerships, Resource Mobilization, Development and Management, and Resource Mobilization, Deployment, and Management.
These strategic priorities are carefully aligned with Lesotho’s National Development Strategic Plan (NSDP II), supporting the national’s objectives for inclusive growth, human capital development, infrastructure improvement, and good governance.
Addressing the future of finance in Lesotho, CAS Rector Neo Phakoana-Foulo highlighted the crucial role of the financial services industry in driving economic growth and stability.
He emphasised that the BAFS programme is designed not only to meet the demands of the vital sector but also to contribute meaningfully to society by fostering innovation and responsible financial practices.
The Council Chairman, Professor Peter Khaola echoed the sentiment of gratitude and highlighted the significance of the BAFS programme and strategic plan as pivotal steps toward a brighter future for CAS.
He underscored the importance of continued collaboration and commitment to achieving the ambitious goals outlined in the strategic plan.
The launch of the BAFS programme and the unveiling of Strategic Plan 2025-2030 mark a significant turning point for CAS, positioning it for continued growth and a leading role in shaping the future of finance in Lesotho.
