MASERU –
Bokamoso FM officially launched a new chapter on October 16, hosting a prestigious gala dinner to unveil its new programme schedule and introduce its new management team.

The event, held in Maseru, was a vibrant celebration of the station’s enduring commitment to providing quality information, education, and entertainment to the Basotho people. The attendance of various corporate representatives underscored the station’s strong standing within the community, with guests treated to live music performances throughout the evening.

The Minister of Culture, Motlatsi Maqelepo, graced the occasion with a keynote address, praising the station for its “superb” programming. He highlighted the quality and professionalism of its output, noting that the programmes are “well couched” and a product he enjoys personally.

An avid listener of the station’s news coverage, Minister Maqelepo commended its accuracy. He went on to laud Bokamoso FM, stating it possesses the same flair and quality as renowned stations like South Africa’s Metro FM.

Recognising the station’s significant contribution to the cultural landscape, Minister Maqelepo announced the ministry’s intention to formally collaborate with Bokamoso FM.

“We see challenges, competence, and skills,” he stated, “and we believe that through collaboration and partnership, we can sell Lesotho better.”

He also extended the government’s appreciation to the station’s founder, David Bishop Ramela, for his dedication to providing vital services to the nation.

Taking to the stage, Ramela reflected on the station’s journey and its future. He emphasised the importance of self-reliance, stating, “Nobody from another country can come to change Lesotho; we are the ones to build this country,” while underscoring the power of national unity.

Ramela paid a heartfelt tribute to his wife for her crucial support and expressed pride in the station’s role in job creation and community service.

“When I thought of the concept of Bokamoso FM, I knew there was a future,” he declared.

He concluded with a powerful call to action, urging the public to support the station’s mission to build a brighter future for all Basotho, with a special emphasis on empowering the “boy child” and “girl child,” and reaffirming Bokamoso FM’s commitment to making their dreams a reality.
