Murder accused soldier granted bail

MASERU – A member of the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) who allegedly murdered his wife in order to claim compensation from his insurance policy was on Tuesday released from prison after he was granted a M1 000 bail by the High Court.
Private Moeketsi Koloti was on February 4 remanded in custody by the Maseru Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on November 30, 2018, Koloti, 30, of Kolo, Ha Ranthethi allegedly shot dead his wife with a firearm.
The woman’s body was later discovered with several gunshot wounds at the Maseru Race Course better known as Sethaleng sa Mopapa
When High Court judge, Justice Ts’eliso Monaphathi released him on bail this week, Koloti was instructed to attend all his bail hearings and stand trial to finality.
The court also ordered him not to interfere with Crown witnesses and police investigations.
The prosecution informed the court that it is currently awaiting a ballistic report before the matter could proceed, adding that on Monday, it would file the latest development on the case before the Maseru Magistrate’s Court.
