Ha Mofoka residents march against famo killings

MASERU – Residents of Ha Mofoka are planning to hold a peaceful march against famo-related killings rife in the area.
According to the commander of the Mofoka police Senior Inspector Motlalehi Phihlela, the march will be held next week Wednesday.
This is after two villagers believed to be members of a famo faction called Terene were alleged gunned down by members of a rival group. Phihlela said the two murders were preceded by the killing in March of three other men also believed to belong to Terene.
He is, however, hopeful that the demonstration will create awareness especially among youths to refrain from crime and use of violence when addressing their differences.
‘This is difficult to address and we cannot tackle it on our own. We need to work hand in hand with the community to root out this long-standing problem,” he said.
Nobody has been arrested in connection with all the killings, but Phihlela said police investigations into the incidents were now at an advanced stage.
