Alliance Winter challenge starts today

MASERU – The Alliance Winter Challenge Cup starts today at Setsoto Stadium at 1pm where Lioli FC will faced LCS and Lioli scored 2 while LCS 1  today, Bantu FC was playing against Matlama FC.

The Alliance Winter Challenge, now in its 5th year running, is a competition that pits some of the country’s leading football clubs against each other over a two-day period.

Three of the participating teams are from the Alliance stable (teams sponsored by Alliance), with the 4th team joining by invitation each year.

According to Alliance the purpose of this annual tournament is to give an opportunity for the teams to prepare well ahead of the upcoming new season.

It is also a platform for the soccer fans to see their teams battle it out for the title of Winter Challenge Champ, giving them a head-start into the new season.

The gate takings are shared among the four teams every year towards fundraising for their preparations and needs for the new season.

This means that Matlama will face LCS for the third place play offs while Bantu and Lioli will fight for the M50, 000.00 winner take all in the final.

All four participating teams will  equally share the gate takings.
