Maseru – Lesotho today joined the rest of the continent to convene a high level expert meeting towards achieving lasting world peace.
Titled ‘African Leaders of Peace Summit 2019’, the meeting, held at a local hotel is aimed at “achieving peace in our lifetime” by garnering national support for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).
Among those in attendance today includes former Chief Justice Lesao Lehohla, members of the International Women Peace Group (IWPG), International Peace Youth Group (IYPG), Development for Peace Education and some media houses, including Public Eye.
Hon. Lebohang Hlaele, a Senator, was expected to attend later, along with other high level government officials who were tied up by the broad-based National Reforms initiative currently under way.
This is a global initiative born out of the sterling efforts of South Korea based global peace ambassador Man Hee Lee of the organisation called Heavenly Culture, World Peace and Restoration of Light (HWPL).
DPCW is an international legal instrument seeking to promote Agenda 2063 by promoting its vision for a peaceful, gunfree Africa. It was the culmination of worldwide lobbying and a crystallisation of high level legal minds across all continents in the quest for lasting peace.
