BUTHA-BUTHE – Police yesterday said a 22-year-old lady Mochesane Patsoe from Ha-Zacharia appeared before the magistrate court on January 22 for killing her 92-year-old grandmother.
Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli told the media suspect, who is still in custody, will re-appear in court on February 4.
Mopeli said on 18 January, 2020 at about 1530 hours, the lady went to her granny’s house with her six-year-old sibling and upon arrival she demanded money from the old lady but the granny told her she did not have money.
She immediately attacked her with a knife and an axe.
“The younger sibling ran out to seek help from neighbours who came but unfortunately found the old lady already dead.”
The lady was arrested and police confiscated both the knife and the axe so they can be used as evidence.
Police said some witnesses allege earlier that day the lady had been saying she longs to see blood.
Meanwhile in the same district, a 36-year-old man appeared before the magistrate court on January 27 for raping his 12-year-old daughter.
The father asked the girl to lie down so he could whip her. While the girl was still down the father locked the door and started raping her.
“This was not the first time the man had raped his daughter as the girl had reported the matter to her granny who did not take any action until the father did it again on January 22 when he was reported to the police by other villagers,” Mopeli said.
