MASERU – A 22-year-old man from Nazareth, along with his 24-year-old Zimbabwean accomplice also currently living at Nazareth were arrested on January 22 for stealing.

Mopeli said the two men went to one Mpesa agent and asked to withdraw M20.

“After withdrawing, the men changed the sms from M20 to M2500 and showed it to the shopkeeper who told them that she had not yet received the message but the pair said the service was down.

“The shopkeeper called the Vodacom center to confirm what was said but the center told her no such amount has been withdrawn.”

She then called the police and the men were arrested.

This is not the first incident, Mopeli said, since police have had reports of other suspects said to be driving a silver Noah and have been defrauding agents in Semonkong, Maputsoe and Roma.
