No sign of schools re-opening soon

KHOLU NTELE
MASERU – The chairperson of the Lesotho Association of Teachers (LAT) Letsatsi Ntsibulane today said he did not know when schools will be re-opening.
In an interview today he said they await the government to make that pronouncement.
This after Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro yesterday announced the extension of the lockdown by another week, as more and more Basotho continue to test positive to Covid-19 which has already killed about 160 people.
While no nation has been spared disruption in education by the virus, the situation is worse for Lesotho schools because before the outbreak of Covid-19 last year, a large part of 2019 had been wasted as teachers were on strike over salaries and other grievances.
This means Basotho school children have never settled in class for three consecutive years.
