Granny rapes a mentally ill 13-year-old girl

QACHA’S NEK – Sello Thamae, 81, who lives in Ha-Sekake appeared before the magistrate court in Qacha’s Nek on 29 January this year after he was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl who has a mental illness. The man is in police custody waiting to appear before court again tomorrow.

Senior Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli said the report indicated that on 22 January a 70-year-old woman who takes a good care of this child had left her alone to go to the fields when the suspect went to the house where he raped her.

The victim’s friends witnessed the rape incident through a window who reported to elders leading to his arrest.
