Mother leaves 3-year-old baby alone for 4 days

THABA-TSEKA – Eighteen-year-old Mpolokeng Mokhethi who lives at Ponts’eng, Ha Ntaote is accused of abusing her three-year-old baby.

She appeared before the Thaba-Tseka magistrate’s court on 19 January where the court ruled that this woman should be sent to jail for 3 years.

Senior Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli said the woman was staying with her three-year-old baby and a 13-year-old relative in whose care she would often leave her baby to go drinking. Relatives decided to take the 13-year-old girl away hoping Mokhethi would be forced to take care of her child but she continued to leave the child alone at home. Relatives reported her to the police who warned Mokhethi but she continued leaving the baby alone and even left the baby alone for four days.
