M4 000 stolen in botched armed robbery

MASERU – Thirty-year-old Qhekoane Ramokone who lives at Ha Nnena, Kolonyama, together with 23-year-old Motlalepula Koali who lives at Ha Koali, Berea appeared before the magistrate court on February 8, 2021 in a suspected armed robbery case.
These suspects are in police custody waiting to appear before court again on February.
Senior superintendent Mpiti Mpoleli said on February 3, 2021 at around mid-day the two suspects got went to business located at Ha Leburu, Peka where they found the owner, an 81-year-old man in the company of an employee.
The suspects drew a gun and forced the victims to hand over M4 000.14, airtime (whose value was not disclosed), an electricity vending machine, a cell phone, four boxes of cigarettes and some snuff.
A witness chased after the two suspects while making noise to alert community members who joined the chased and caught up with the suspects near a clinic in Peka.
Everything was recovered, together with a gun that the suspects were using.
