Taxi operators flout Covid-19 rules

MASERU – Some taxi operators are not adhering to Covid-19 regulations.
Public Eye last week witnessed some taxis which ply the Maseru-Sehlabeng route carrying 21 passengers, some of whom were standing.
On February 28, 2021 NACOSEC made an official announcement on public transport that a 4+1 must take 3 passengers excluding the driver, while a 15-seater taxi should carry 11 passengers excluding the driver and the conductor.
In an interview over the weekend, police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Mpiti Mpeli reiterated that anyone, including taxi operators, seen flouting Covid-19 regulations will face the law.
