Instant justice for murder suspect

MASERU – The community of Ha-Mots’oane fatally assaulted and burnt a 30-year-old man.
Police spokesperson senior superintendent Mpiti Mopeli said on March 12, 2021 the victim visited a 39-year-old woman who lives in the same village.
The two had an argument over a phone and they fought. The victim lost his temper and stabbed the woman with a knife in the neck before fleeing.
On the following day the son of the woman arrived home and found his mother lying in a pool of blood dead and he alerted the community.
The victim came along with other members of the community to witness the incident. Some community members remembered that the previous day the victim was the last person seen with the dead women.
The community assaulted him and tortured him until he confessed that he had stabbed the woman in anger but did not intend to kill her.
Community members then took the law into their own hands.
