Govt accepts petition to reinstate fired nurses

Maseru – Following the dismissal of over 300 nurses and nursing assistants at Ts`epong, a petition signed by at least 6 460 people demanding their reinstatement was today accepted by Government Secretary, Lerotholi Pheko.

Pheko accepted the petition on behalf of Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro. The petition appeals to him and his government to ensure the fired nurses are reinstated immediately.

Speaking on behalf of the petitioners, Thuso Leina said they expect the nursing staff to be recalled to work immediately.

“Up to 6 460 and more people are concerned about this issue and if the government continues to delay, it is going do more damage and affect more people,” he said.
