Phomolo bonfire to thaw winter blues

Maseru- To shake off the winter blues, Phomolo Guest House is set to host a bonfire scheduled for Saturday, from 1pm till 9 pm. The event featuring Dj Thizozo, born Thabo Tau, a local deejay with more than 10 years’ experience who is also a 2016 Vodacom Superstar Deejay winner, will entertain guests.

Bonfire lovers are expected to bring along Camp chairs and a blanket.  According to the organizer, owner of Phomolo Guest House Mawinnie Kanetsi, the event is meant for people to unwind from the depression brought not only by COVID-19 but also by winter which literally confines people in one space for a long time.

“People need to get out of their homes and shake off the winter blues,” she said adding that this would give people time to chat over a bonfire which used to be the case in Sesotho culture.

“Culturally, Basotho seat around the fire to narrate or share stories, so through this event we want to take people back to those golden days but this time around in a modern way,” she said.
