Nedbank donates M60 000 and PPE to police

Maseru- Nedbank Lesotho today handed over a cheque for M60 000 and a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) package that includes sanitisers and n95 type masks to the Lesotho Mounted Police Services (LMPS).

At the event held at LMPS Headquarters, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Paseka Mokete welcomed Nedbank’s generous donation to the LMPS that will go directly towards Police Training Centre (PTC) programmes during these trying times of the pandemic.

Handing over the gifts, Nedbank Lesotho’s Managing Director, Nkau Matete highlighted the purpose of the handover was to respond to some of the challenges faced by LMPS. 

“We work very closely with the police very often and we truly appreciate the relationship. Therefore, this is our token of appreciation to you,” Matete said.

Commissioner of Police Holomo Molibeli expressed his appreciation to Nedbank Lesotho for the gifts, adding the donation will benefit the service.

“This donation is going directly towards improving LMPS; I would like to pass specially thank Nedbank Lesotho for these special gifts and to ensure that we produce highly competent police officers. There are plans to collaborate with a one of the universities in the United Kingdom (UK) because we want to transform this service for the best; soon even entry requirements at PTC will change,” he said.

Holomo further commented on the recent vehicle theft reports warning perpetrators against these illegal actions. He also urged the public to respect the national curfew time in order to help reduce crime of this nature.
