Germany donates 450 000 face masks

Maseru – The Ministry of health today received Personal Protective Equipment comprising 450 000 masks from the German government to the Kingdom of Lesotho to assist in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.
Receiving the gift Dr ’Nyane Letsie said they are really grateful for the support from the German government which always comes to Lesotho’s rescue in the hour of need. She further said masks will benefit all the health facilities in the country.
“This gesture, this gift, this PPEs is going to be availed to all health facilities in Lesotho. Christian Health Association of Lesotho Facilities, which is our main partner, are going to receive this PPE, and so will the private sector,” she said.
Dr Susan Tembo, of WHO expressed gratitude to Dr. Rudiger Lotz who represented the German government. Health Ministry Principal Secretary Khothatso Ts’ooana also expressed appreciation to the German government.
“There is a long-standing relationship between the kingdom of Lesotho and the Federal Republic of Germany, particularly in the area of health. In the past the Republic of Germany assisted Lesotho with highly specialised doctors in different fields and this is not the first time they are supporting us . . . On behalf of the government, I want to thank you for this support.”
