Spotlight on pharmacists

Maseru – Local pharmacists are set to celebrate pharmacy week. Pharmacy Association of Lesotho president, Teliso Letsatsi, said that although Pharmacy Week is celebrated in October annually worldwide, Lesotho commemorates it during the last week of January annually.

This year’s theme is “Educate before you medicate”. Letatsi said pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are facing a lot of challenges since the government of Lesotho does not seem to be eager to employ more of these professionals. In the end, he said, it is healthcare services which suffer due to shortage of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. 

“It is high time that the government recognizes the role played by pharmacists and pharmacy technicians,” he said. Pharmacy week celebrations will start on Monday, January 24 until Saturday January 29, 2022 through different platforms with different health talk topics and screenings in different healthcare services countrywide.

It is a time to appreciate the impact these professionals have on patients and health care in general.
