A cocktail of Soul, RnB and comedy
MAKERESEMESE LETUKA
MASERU – Thabo Tau, aka DJ Thizozo, on Sunday serenaded revellers at the Soul and RnB and comedy experience. At the event that was held at Maseru Club, Soul and RnB artists gave an amazing performance, with a touch of comedy here and there. The dress code was themed black and white. In an interview with Life& Style after the show, DJ Thizozo said the show was aimed at capturing the vacant space of middle aged people who can still party but on a rather soulful tip.
“It was also meant to show the audience that there are more genres of music to explore in the music industry than just focusing on dance alone,” he said. While artistes were on the stage the audience were able to sing along and add a bit of dance to it, especially when the songs addressed issues of love, heartbreak and happiness. Some of the names on the line-up were Origin, Tamia, Bondo (from South Africa) and DJs Jazzy Tea, Delux, Ebonics, Tebsoul. Comedians who lit up the show were Leotoana, Mavele and Lilaphalapha.
One of the performances that stood out and attracted much attention from the audience was a surprise appearance by Press, from South Africa, with his well-known song ‘Khosatsana ea Koeneng’ . The crowd went into a frenzy.
One of the revellers, Khothatso Molibeli, told Life&Style that the show touched her heart because some of songs played brought back some of her past memories, revealing that “I found this show a must-see for me, and I wish for more of this kind.”
Costs incurred to put the show together were estimated at M100 000, and the event reached its intended target – hence it is going to be seasonal event, according to DJ Thizozo, who further assured “there is definitely going to be another episode in Spring”.
“Production was on-point, all artistes we available and the message that we needed to portrayed has been sent and is trending in social media.” However, the bad weather had affected expected attendance to a point where some people who had bought tickets did not show up.
