Pioneer Mall Offers a reward for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of a person that shot and killed its security officer. In an interview Andre Bothma, the managing director of Pioneer Mall, announced that the mall is offering M100 000.00 to any person that will voluntarily provide information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person that shot and killed a security officer that was on duty on Monday, 01 August 2022.
The tragedy happened at about 09:00AM at one of the entrances on the upper ground parking area of the mall. Three suspects robbed a customer who was carrying a large amount of cash. The Mall’s security responded as soon as they were aware of the incident and attempted to prevent the suspects from fleeing by closing the boom gate exits of the Mall. Sadly, this led to the fatal shooting of a security staff member by a fourth suspect. The four suspects subsequently fled the scene in their vehicle.
“Several robberies have occurred in Maseru in recent weeks, with criminals descending on shopping centres, fuel stations and community shops over the past month and as Pioneer Mall we are committed to putting an end to this hence the reward.
“The safety and security of our customers, tenants, employees and other stakeholders is of utmost importance to the Board and Management of Pioneer Mall and we ask that Basotho should remember that Lesotho is known as a peaceful nation, and we must all work together to restore that reputation by not tolerating any criminal activities,” he said. In closing the brief interview Andre said the Board of Directors and the Mall management wish to convey their sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased.
