MASERU – Nthabiseng Khabane, a gospel singer-songwriter residing in the United Kingdom (UK) and originally from Lesotho, is working on her new album, Jeso Fela. This will be her third album, following Thy Kingdom Come in 2018 and Kenyorilwe in 2020, all of which were produced in the UK. Khabane says her passion in music began at a young age, when she was a devout Catholic with her family.
Before embarking on a career in gospel singing, she sang in a handful of choirs in the United Kingdom and was a member of the worship team at the Calvary Family Church. “The inspiration for my music is my faith and the belief that I am fulfilling the purpose God has set for my life,” Khabane told Public Eye in an interview.
“Seeing how far God has taken me and everything he has carried me through makes me want to serve him, praise him, and testify of His goodness. Of all the songs I have released, I would say O lokile Jeso is a song I’ll pick,” Khabane adds.
“It explains His goodness and love for us, as well as who He is in our lives,” says, adding that she chose gospel music because she is a Christian. “I chose gospel music because it is my duty as a Christian to serve God, and I must use the talent He has given me to tell people about Him, His greatness, and spread His message through music.
“I know God has a plan for my life, and I am simply carrying it out.”Khabane, on the other hand, understands the need of balancing music and nursing.
“I need to prioritise both, stick to my schedule, and be disciplined. Planning ahead of time assists in developing a schedule to achieve a good balance. At the same time, I have to make room for anything unexpected,” she explains. Mphefumulo wan uyolibonaizulu and O lokile Jeso are already available as extended plays (EP).
