Warm children’s hearts: A China-Africa joint action
MASERU – The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China last week Wednesday held a donation ceremony entitled “Warm Children’s Hearts: A China-Africa Joint Action” at Victory Hall in Maseru.
“Warm Children’s Hearts: A China-Africa Joint Action” is an initiative by Prof Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, together with the organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) with the aim of conveying warmth and care to African orphans on the occasion of International Children’s Day.
150 Basotho Children from six care facilities received packages worth M150 000 which includes hygiene products, blankets, sanitary pads, stationery, ect. The Chinese Medical Team conducted medical examinations and provided necessary medicines to the children.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Chinese Ambassador to Lesotho Lei Kezhong, Senate President ‘Mamonaheng Mokitimi, Foreign Affairs Minister Lejone Mpotjoane, Sports and Gender, Social Development Minister Pitso Lesaoana and the 17th Chinese Medical Team in Lesotho.
